Profile
EMC has a dedicated crew of Quality Assurance Personnel
who are completely independent of management and answer only
to the President and Owner.
EMC has developed and maintained an ISO Certified quality
program since 1999. Our Chesapeake and Courtland shops are
both ISO 9001:2000 certified.
EMC is currently and has been Navsea Sealed Insulation System
Certified since 1993. EMC has also been SUPSHIP audited since
1980.
EMC’s Courtland facility has been a SKF Certified
Rebuilder of Electric Motors since 1995.
EMC has had a NUPIC audited 10CFR50 Appendix B Safety-Related quality program since 2005.
EMC has a Commercial Grade Dedication Program that is modeled
after ERPI NP-5652.
EMC offers rewind of safety-related, environmentally qualified
(EQ) motors through use of EPRI’s EQ Insulation System
Qualification Program. Due to EMC’s involvement in
the qualification process for this project, we are fully
licensed to use the system. The insulation systems qualified
are:
Medium Voltage (up to 7 KV), form wound, outside
containment
Low
Voltage (up to 600 V), random wound, inside containment,
intermittent duty
(MOV Motors)
Low
Voltage (up to 600 V), random wound, inside containment,
continuous duty
All three qualification reports are available for review
by the utility.
EMC has been a member of the Electrical Apparatus Service
Association (EASA) since 1962, South Tidewater Association
of Ship Repairers (STASR), now the Virginia Ship Repair Association
(VSRA) since 1995. EMC is also a member of the Large Electric
Motor Users Group (LEMUG), AMA, Propeller Club, VA Maritime
Association, International Maintenance Institute and NETA.
